Last post, I said I’d spent several days on a couple of chapters and thought I’d finally cracked it. Well good news is, I finally got them both all done. The next couple chapters for Penumbra (though as I’ve said before, it’s very likely I’ll be renaming it to Eisengrau before sending it to agents… we’ll see) are going to take some moderately intense effort, but from there, things should move pretty smoothly.
I took a look at some of the stuff I’ve already gotten started on for book 2 (likely to be named Penumbra at this point… :P) and I was surprised how much I liked it, considering I wrote it almost a year and a half ago before I realized I needed to split my manuscript into two parts. It’s gotten me super excited to work on that more, but I need to get this finished up first. I need more time to work on these things! Balancing life between writing, family and work is not easy! I’ve got a half dozen other ideas I want to start writing, but if I try to split my attention between them, none of it well ever get done.
My friend Rob Code and I are looking to try our hands at a podcast, we’ll likely do a test recording this week. It sounds fun, though building a listener base in today’s podcast market isn’t easy–there are so many of them! But I think one key to being successful is finding a niche that isn’t filled. I’ve checked on some of the more popular podcasts on writing and I think we’ve got some good ideas to help us stand out a little. Rob’s got a vast amount of knowledge about writing (he’ll probably end up forgetting more than I’ll ever know) so I’m excited about the prospect.
In the meantime, I need to go work. Last week was a roller coaster of events, spawning from a job offer I received then proceeded to stress about for half the week (not my typical proclivity) which lead to me getting almost nothing done. Which means I’m behind!
