End of the Holidays, Time to Write!

Ahh, the holidays have ended and now it’s back to the grind. I’m like two weeks late on a post here, which I didn’t realize until just now.

I haven’t heard back from Chris about Eisengrau. It’s now entering that awkward phase where I don’t want to poke him for fear of being annoying, though I expect there’s roughly a 92.5% he’s forgotten all about it. Of course, I could HARDLY blame him, I’ve done that probably half a dozen times with novels I’ve offered to beta read. I USUALLY remember and come around on my own though, so I’m going to give him a while to message me back before I do anything.

In the meantime, I could be forwarding my manuscript on to agents on my own… and maybe I should be. I’ve held off because I’m waiting to hear from Chris, but the actual primary reason is because I wanted to have at least a rough draft of book 2 done before submitting. And… well while that’s going, it’s getting rough.

I’m not sure where the impediment is coming from, that’s the real problem. I had a good portion of book 2 written already from stuff I pulled from book 1, maybe about a quarter. I got through the next third pretty well, but the last quarter or so have been hard. In that past that’s meant something isn’t working, but I don’t think that’s the case here. I have an idea of what I need to do but I’m just having a hard time executing it. In reality this is just par for the course in terms of discovery writing though, I just need to put my head down and keep working.

Along with that, I’m going to be starting up a podcast this week–though not one related to writing. A couple of years ago I made a couple of board game reviews and put them on YouTube. They were pretty well received, and I enjoyed doing it, but just couldn’t keep up with the time demands for doing that. Each video was taking something like 35 hours to make altogether, and I just couldn’t maintain that, while keeping the quality I wanted to keep. I’ve wanted to get back to it all this time, but I know that I’ll never be able to make videos the way I want them, so I’m going to give podcasting a try. We’ll see how it works out!

Anyway, time for me to piece some of book 2 together.
